Irimë was a Noldorin Elf, daughter of Finwë, High King of the Noldor and Indis, his second wife. She was the sister of Fingolfin and Finarfin and half-sister of Fëanor.

Little is known about her, except that during the Exile of the Noldor Irimë went to Middle-earth with Fingolfin, while the rest of her siblings remained in Valinor. Irimë's fate is unknown, she may have been slain or returned to Aman after the Dagor Bragollach, "Battle of Sudden Flame". She does not appear in the published Silmarillion.

Etymology

Irimë's mother-name was Lalwendë or in shortened form Lalwen, and by this name she was generally known. In some versions Irimë is called Irien which may have been her father-name.

Other Versions of the Legendarium

In earlier versions of the legendarium, Finwë and Indis had three daughters: Findis, Faniel and Finvain. It remains unclear if the third daughter survived in the final conception of Finwë's family tree.

Irimë may have been the mother of Aranwë, who was in turn the father of Voronwë.
