- 1918 - J.R.R. Tolkien attends a medical board examination. 9th Royal Defence Corps at Easington is disbanded and Tolkien is to be based at Thirtle Bridge again.
- 1956 - J.R.R. Tolkien writes Letter 185.
- 1989 - Heren Hyarmen is founded by Ronald Kyrmse in São Paulo, Brazil. On 9 January 2003, the name was changed to "Heren Hyarmeno", the correct Quenya genitive to mean "Order of the South".
