- 1916 - While in reserve, J.R.R. Tolkien's battalion is inspected by Sir Doulgas Haig, the British commander at the Battle of the Somme.
- 1945 - Jane Chance is born.
- 1958 - J.R.R. Tolkien writes a letter to L.M. Cutts.
- 1966 - Finding himself short of a speech subject, J.R.R. Tolkien reads Smith of Wootton Major to a room of about 800 people.
- 1994 - Tyalië Tyelelliéva issue 2 is published.
- 2003 - RingCon III in Tacoma, Washington.
