- 2004 - The 76th Academy Awards: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King wins 11 Oscars out of 11 nominations. David Hemmings is featured in the In Memoriam feature.
In Arda
- T.A. 3019:
- Aragorn reaches the Downs.
- Merry and Pippin escape from the Orcs and meet Treebeard.
- Treebeard leads the hobbits to Wellinghall and they drink the Ent-draught.
- The Rohirrim attack at sunrise and destroy the Orcs; death of Grishnákh and Uglúk.
