- 1916 - G.B. Smith, one of the T.C.B.S., dies of gas-gangrene in his wounds, sustained 4 days earlier. The news doesn't reach Tolkien until the 16th.
- 1954 - The BBC Third Programme broadcasts the radio play of The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth.
- 1955 - Tolkien's poem Imram is published in Time and Tide.
- 1998 - Tyalië Tyelelliéva issue 13 is published.
- 2003 - David Hemmings, who played Bergil in the 1955 radio series of The Lord of the Rings, dies.
- 2004 - The Lord of the Rings Symphony plays in Newark, New Jersey.
