Adrahil II was the twenty-first Prince of Dol Amroth, the father of Imrahil.

History

Adrahil was the son of Angelimir. He became the twenty-first Prince of Dol Amroth after his father's death in T.A. 2977.

Adrahil had three children. The eldest was a daughter, Ivriniel. His second daughter, Finduilas, married Denethor II and was the mother of Boromir and Faramir. Adrahil's only son and heir was Imrahil.

Adrahil died in T.A. 3010 and was succeeded by Imrahil.[1]

Etymology

Adrahil presumably is an Adûnaic name of unknown meaning.

The second element -hil (also seen in the name Imrahil) perhaps is related to the Westron ending -kil (cf. banakil, Tarkil) meaning "man", ultimately related to Elvish "follower".[2]
