The definition of Aragorn is unknown but 'ara' denotes 'Lord' or 'King'. In an early manuscript of Appendix A, J.R.R. Tolkien interpreted the name as 'Kingly Valour,' while this section of the story was rejected it is unknown if the meaning was also.
