asëa is a Quenya word derived from the root ATH "ease, comfort, heal". asëa constitutes the first element of the plant name asëa aranion. While no direct translation of asëa is given, the word is cognate to Sindarin athae (which means "to ease, assist").[1]

Etymology

The word derives from *athea, stem as- and ending -ea; the PQ form was athajâ root ATH.[2]
