Baran (First Age 5th century) was the elder son of Bëor the Old and brother to Belen. He took over leadership of the House of Bëor after his father's departure to serve as vassal to Finrod Felagund.

In First Age 402, Orcs attempted to break through the Pass of Aglon, but the people of Bëor helped Maedhros and Maglor throw back the invaders. This was the first time Men fought on behalf of the Eldar.
