Christopher Luke Wiseman (20 April 1893 Edgbaston - 25 July 1987 Milford-on-Sea) was the only friend of J.R.R. Tolkien who survived the World War I, during which he served as an Instructor Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.[1] He was one of the T.C.B.S., and it was after Wiseman who Tolkien named his son, Christopher Tolkien.[2]
