She is possibly one of the North-Tooks, decended from Bandobras Took (aka Bullroarer). She had one son Faramir, named for a Steward of Gondor (see Faramir). Her date of death is not known, but some people assume Diamond probably died sometime before the year 63 of the Fourth Age when Pippin left the Shire to live in Gondor.

Diamond of Long Cleeve was a hobbit of the Shire.

History

Diamond came from Long Cleeve, a village in the Northfarthing.[1] She married Peregrin Took in S.R. 1427, and had one son, Faramir, named after Faramir of Gondor.[2]

Etymology

Diamonds are precious jewels[3] The jewel name supports the possibility that she was of a high family, such as the North-tooks.

Portrayal in Adaptations

2001-7: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King:

Whilst unnamed in the film itself, the Hobbit next to Pippin at Sam's wedding is identified as Diamond on a Decipher Card. She is played by Emma Deakin.[4]
