Elbereth (pronounced [ˈelbereθ]) is a Sindarin name. It can refer to:
- Elbereth Gilthoniel, the Sindarin name for Varda, Queen of the Valar.
- Elven Hymn to Elbereth, a song sung by Gildor Inglorion in The Fellowship of the Ring.
- A Elbereth Gilthoniel, a poem in both The Fellowship of the Ring and The Road Goes Ever On.
Etymology
Elbereth derives from elen-bereth meaning "star-queen". It represents evolution of PQ *elen-barathî (the final -i umlauted the word to berethi) > elemberethi > elbereth.[1]
