The Greek Tolkien Society (Ελληνικός Σύλλογος Φίλων Τόλκιν) The Prancing Pony is a Tolkien Society based in Greece.
It started as a semi-professional website intended to promote Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings for the Greek audience while hosting a forum; eventually it evolved into a full-functioning society in 2002.
The society is unofficially divided into two "smials", one in Athens and one in Thessaloniki (and all northern Greece).
In September 2007, the GTS hosted the first overboard Tolkien gathering on Greek ground on the island of Andros with Caspar Reiff of Tolkien Ensemble as a special guest; the happening was conveniently named "Cair Andros".
