Farewell Dear Bilbo is the fifth scene of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and the sixth scene of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (extended edition).

- As one of the most iconic characters in fine literature, Bilbo Baggins deserves a fond farewell. There are many instances when Bilbo says goodbye.
-  First in The Hobbit, he tells goodbye to his home and to the Shire.
-  Later in the story Bilbo bids farewell to the dwarves saying, “Well, Merry People!...your lullaby would waken a drunken goblin! Yet I thank you.”They replied, “And your snores would waken a stone dragon—yet we thank you,” they answered with laughter.
-  A third time in in The Fellowship of the Ring. Bilbo embarks on one last adventure. This goodbye is most crucial. Not only does he leave Frodo with a somber farewell, but he also parts with the ring of power. At this moment is Gandalf allowed to persuade Frodo into destroying it.
-  Perhaps the worst, yet the best, Farewell is at the end of Return of the King when a lonely shipyard waits for Bilbo Baggins, Frodo Baggins, Gandalf the White, and a few elves to drift away on a boat that carries them to a new horizon far from Middle Earth.
