Art Analysis[edit | edit source]

Caranthir and Haleth by Catherine Karina Chmiel is a wonderful work comparing the stubborn pride of the human Haleth with the cool admiration of her rescuer, the High Elf Caranthir the Dark. The is one noticeable problem, however. Within Haleth's lifetime her people crossed the Blue Mountains and first met High Elves. High Elves were responsible for teaching Men higher culture, including smithing. Haleth could not have worn plate armor as shown in the picture; it is possible her people had no armor at all.
