There are only very slight differences between this image and [[:Image:J.R.R._Tolkien_-_The_Hill_-_Hobbiton-across-the-Water.jpg|the earlier sketch]], most notably in the windows of the mill and in the words on the signpost, which in the drawing directs the traveller to Bag-End but in the painting to the Hill.
