The Fire of Orthanc is a type of explosive, supposedly created by Saruman. It was used by Saruman's army of Uruk-Hai to destroy the Deeping Wall of Helm's Deep. It is unknown whether it is just a single substance, or is made up of a list of ingredients, which would most likely include gunpowder.
