The Fire of Orthanc is a type of explosive, supposedly created by Saruman. It was used by Saruman's army of Uruk-Hai to destroy the Deeping Wall of Helm's Deep. It is most likely made up of an assortment of ingredients, including gunpowder. Saruman is also said to have used it in the Battle of Isengard, against the ents. It may have been the cause of the death of Beechbone.
