Article Tense
What tense are the articles supposed to be in?  For instance, is "when Fëanor finds his Silmarils were stolen by Melkor, he goes to Tirion" correct?  Or is "when Fëanor found his Silmarils were stolen by Melkor, he went to Tirion", in the past tense, correct?  --Narfil Palùrfalas 17:35, 27 April 2006 (EDT)

:Since Tolkien intended the legendarium to be a history, everything should be in past tense. Even the sections about Eriol. Which is nice, because it keeps everything simple. --Ebakunin 17:38, 27 April 2006 (EDT)

::I'd agree with Ebakunin on this one. Past tense seems to make the most sense and is the simplest. Although, I think the articles dealing with Languages could be present tense. For instance this word means this in this language. It seems awkward to state past tense as it sounds as if we can't use those words at present. --Hyarion 17:47, 27 April 2006 (EDT)

:::I certainly like the past tense better. All the Wikipedia Tolkien articles are in the present. Thanks. --Narfil Palùrfalas 14:52, 28 April 2006 (EDT)

::::This should probably go in another topic but Wikipedia also uses the singular title such as Balrog, while we use the plural Balrogs. I'm not sure why I chose to differ but it just seems most things in Arda are in the plural sense. It also seems to work well with the categories as we have the Elves article and the Elves category. If anyone has any objections to that do let me know. --Hyarion 15:04, 28 April 2006 (EDT)
