I, for one, am fine with the name Elf or Elves. It's very regal sounding and the way it's pronounced csn convey different emotions easily. Growing up with the word Elves makes it hard to see it another way, but it also seems to just be right. {{User:Breragor/sig}}

Tolkien Gateway > Council > Elben/Elves what's your opinion?

Hey everyone I just have a question for you which has been kinda bugging me. Are you happy with the name Elves?

In the German translation Tolkien decided to use Elben instead of the simple translation of the original Word Elves (Elfen). As far as I'm remembering he made this decision because he was unhappy with the term Elfen (and Elves for that matter) because it was crude and too simple.

Now you people have grown up with the term... would you have it another way like for example Elbes?
