I think that all major character article titles should be use the names by which they are most commonly referred. Just like we moved Aragorn II to Aragorn, we should move articles like Peregrin Took to Pippin. By 'major characters' we could limit it to members of the Fellowship of the Ring and Thorin and Company. -- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  18:35, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind such moves. It would indeed be much work to sort out the redirects, but I guess bots are excellent for such tasks, right? --Morgan 18:49, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Oh yeah, a bot could easily sort the redirects out.-- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  19:11, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Just curious, would you suggest that we write, e.g., Peregrin "Pippin" Took in the intro sentence? --Morgan 19:32, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Yep. -- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  20:06, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Case in point: Thorin is not once referred to as Thorin II Oakenshield and yet that is what we name our article? -- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  20:31, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
