Galbasi is a Hobbitish surname that comes from the name of the village Galabas

It was corrupted as Galpsi.

Etymology

The name Galabas uses the elements galap, "game", and bas "village", corresponding somewhat to "-wich" or "-wick".

Translation

The name was translated as "Gammidgy" and the corrupted form as Gamgee.
