Gamwich

Revision as of 10:44, 31 January 2013 by Sage (Talk | contribs)

Gamwich was a village in the Shire.

The original home town of the Gammidge Family (later Gamgee) and source of Hamfast Gamwich's chosen surname, the town was also known for its own rope-making.[1]

Etymology

Gamwich is "translated" from Hobbitish Galabas[2]

Location

In The Atlas of Middle-earth, Karen Fonstad put its location near the borders of the Westfarthing, but this is only speculation.[3]
