Gimilkhâd was the younger son of King Ar-Gimilzôr of Númenor who, like his father, opposed the reforming policies of his elder brother Inziladûn, who ruled as Tar-Palantir. His son was Ar-Pharazôn, who usurped the throne of Númenor and brought the island to its destruction.

  1. Whereas The Line of Elros lists the birth and death dates for Gimilkhâd as S.A. 3044 and S.A. 3243 (indicating an age of 199), The Silmarillion says, "Gimilkhâd died two years before his two hundredth year"
