The Golden Book, called Parma Kuluina by the Eldar, was a book about the history of the Elder Days, kept by the Elves of Tol Eressëa in their city of Kortirion. Pengolod consulted the Golden Book when compiling the Quenta Silmarillion. Eriol/Ælfwine was allowed to read the Parma Kuluina.[1][2][3]

Etymology

Parma Kuluina is Quenya for "the Golden Book", consisting of parma "book" + kuluina ("golden" or "of gold").[4]

Its earlier Qenya name was rendered Parma Kuluinen.[5]
