The Great Goblin by John Howe

The Great Goblin (late Third Age) was the chief of the Goblins who dwelt in Goblin-town beneath the High Pass in the Misty Mountains. As described in The Hobbit, his warriors captured Thorin and Company during the Quest of Erebor, and he was killed by Gandalf, who stabbed him with the blade Glamdring.

The Great Goblin was never given a formal name by Tolkien.

Portrayal in Adapatations

In the animated version of The Hobbit, the Great Goblin was voiced by John Stephenson.
