Haldir was Chieftain of the Haladin in Brethil. He married Glóredhel of the House of Hador and they had a son named Handir and fostered their nephews Húrin and Huor during their childhood years.[1]

Haldir was slain in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad ("Battle of Unnumbered Tears") with most of the Men of Brethil.[2] He was succeeded by his son Handir as the Chieftain of the Haladin.
