Months in the Shire Calendar |
---|
Halimath or Harvestmath in Bree, was the ninth month of the Shire Calendar, following Wedmath and approximately corresponding to modern 23 August through 21 September.[1]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The name represents a modernization of the Old English name for September, hāliġmōnaþ meaning "holy month" (referring to pagan sacrifices).[2][3]
