Hamfast of Gamwich

Hamfast of Gamwich was the oldest recorded forefather of Sam Gamgee. He was the father of Wiseman Gamwich.

Etymology

The name Hamfast comes from Old English hámfæst, meaning "stay-at-home".[1]
