Hevensday (or Hensday; archaic form Hevenesdei) was the fifth day of the week in the Shire Calendar. It represented the Númenórean day Ormenel, dedicated to Menel, the heavens.[1]

After the reform of Isengrim Took II,[1] dates such as 1 June and 1 December always fell on Hevensday.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Hevensday represents an archaic Hobbitish form "Hevenesdei", a word preserved in the Yellowskin.[1]

Hevensday is translated as "Wednesday" in The Lord of the Rings.[1]
