Vinyarion led Gondor's armies to avenge the death of his father, slain in a war with the [[Haradrim]].<ref name="Elendil"/>  In {{TA|1551}} he won a great victory over the Haradrim<ref>{{App|TA}}</ref> and took the name Hyarmendacil II to commemorate this achievement.<ref name="Elendil"/>


Born as Vinyarion, his father Aldamir was slain in a war with the [[Haradrim]] in 1540 and Vinyarion wished to avenge Aldamir's death.

History

Vinyarion led Gondor's armies to avenge the death of his father, slain in a war with the Haradrim.[1] In T.A. 1551 he won a great victory over the Haradrim[3] and took the name Hyarmendacil II to commemorate this achievement.[1]
