Inzilbêth was a queen (though not a Ruling Queen) of Númenor. She was the daughter of Lindórië, who was the sister of Eärendur, the fifteenth Lord of Andúnië,[3] and a descendant of Tar-Calmacil.[1] She did not like a marriage with Ar-Gimilzôr, because she was secretly one of the Faithful, having been tought by her mother. However, Ar-Gimilzôr did not allow his whishes to be denied.[3] There was no love between Inzilbêth and her husband or between her sons. Her elder son Inziladûn, who would take the royal title of Tar-Palantir, followed her teachings rather than his father's when he became King of Númenor. Her younger son Gimilkhâd would follow in the footsteps of his father.[3][1]

Etymology

Inzilbêth is an Adûnaic name. Its meaning is not glossed, but Paul Strack suggests it means "Flower-word" and is a compound of inzil ("flower") and bêth ("word").[4]
