lalaith is a noun meaning "laughter" in Sindarin.[1][2][3]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
It is possible that this word shows influence from lala- in Quenya, such as, in the name Lalwendë or, more commonly, Lalwen (laughing maiden).[4]:343
In Common Eldarin the stem for 'laugh' is g-lada-, in Quenya lala-, in Telerin glada, and in Sindarin glað.[4]:359, Note 29
