Quenya

laure[1][2][3] (or laurë[4]) is a Quenya word glossed as:

  1. "gold, not the metal but the colour, what we would should call golden light"[2][4]
  2. "golden colour of sunshine or golden flowers"[1]
  3. "light of the golden Tree Laurelin, gold",[3]

Etymology

In the manuscript "Eldarin Roots and Stems", laure derives from root LAW.[1]

In the Etymologies, laure derives from root LÁWAR-.[3]
