On 14 October 1958, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Rhona Beare.
This is one of the two letters that were printed in the J.R.R. Tolkien's Letters to Rhona Beare, being the original of Letter 211.
- Difference from Letter 211: Compared to this, Letter 211 omitted some marginal comments, replaced a paragraph with one from a draft (on the same point), and provided a prefatory note summarizing Dr. Beare's questions to which the letter is a response.[1]
