Lug was an Orc slain by Tuor in Gondolin.[1]
History
During the Fall of Gondolin, Lug was among those Orcs which assailed the Gondothlim alongside the Balrogs at the coming of the Drakes. Lug was ultimately slain by Tuor, who smote him with his axe, Dramborleg, which cut his limbs out from beneath him in the process.[2]
Etymology
Lug or Lûg[3] is a Gnomish name meaning "snake". Its Qenya form was Lôke.[4]
Other versions of the legendarium
Lug never appeared within any of Tolkien's writing after "The Fall of Gondolin" in The Book of Lost Tales.
