Mámandil is a Quenya word meaning "friend of sheep" and possibly also "shepherd".

"Mámandil" was the pseudonym of Hallacar of Hyarastorni while he wooed Ancalimë on the pastoral lands of Emerië.[1]

[edit] Etymologies

The name derives from Máma "sheep"[2] and -ndil "friend of, devoted to".
