"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."

Updates

  • 2-2-08 - Wow. Whatever could go wrong, did go wrong. We are extremely sorry about the downtime the last few days, shame on us for thinking everything would go smoothly. Thanks for hanging in there, now let's move onto the good news. No data was lost and we are now running on a brand new server with PHP5 and we'll begin upgrading the MediaWiki software and adding some fun new extensions in the coming weeks.
  • 1-29-08 - Due to the rapid growth of Tolkien Gateway we will be migrating to a new quad-core server with 8 gigs of RAM. For data synchronization reasons, we will be locking the database tomorrow during the migration process which means editing may be disabled. We should be at our new home and fully operational by Wednesday.
