Makalaurë (Q, pron. [ˌmakaˈlaʊre]) was the mother-name of Maglor, second son of Fëanor. In the The Etymologies it is translated as "Gold-cleaver",[1] while The Shibboleth of Feanor explains that the name might be connected to his skill in harping, whose sound was golden.[2]
