Nancy Smith 30 May 1966 is a letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Nancy Smith, written May 30, 1966 in Oxford.

Excerpts

Smith had written to Tolkien asking for .... Tolkien responds with a critique of Ford Madox Ford: "I never in fact met Ford Madox Ford, nor, until quite recently, had I ever read a line that he wrote. I must admit that I am too much engaged with my own construction to be fair to other authors, but towards Ford Madox Ford I felt a quite exceptional distaste."
