New Line Cinema, founded in 1967, is one of the ten major Hollywood movie studios. It is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. which is a subsidiary of Time Warner. The current co-chairmen and co-CEOs are founder Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne.

The Lord of the Rings (film series) has New Line Cinema to thank for funding them, something which other film companies were afraid to do.
