Nielíqui was a Vala maiden according to the early version of the legendarium in The Book of Lost Tales.
She was the daughter of Oromë and Vána.[1][2] She also enjoyed dancing through her father's woods and Ómar would sometimes accompany her by singing along.[3] It is said that: "where her tears fell snowdrops sprang, where her feet touched as she laughed daffodils blossomed".[4]
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Aside from the form Nielíqui, there were other variations on her name: Nielikki or Nyelikki, and Nieliqi.[4] Nielikki was perhaps intended to be a "pet-name form" of Nieliqi.[5] She was also called Wendine (meaning "Little Maiden" in Qenya).[6]
