- "Even so fall the people of Nargothrond, but for them there shall come no Spring."
- ― Ornil in The Grey Annals
Ornil was an Elf of Nargothrond who met Túrin after the Battle of Tumhalad.
History
After Gwindor's death, Túrin started to rush back to Nargothrond, gathering any survivors of the battle in the process, including Ornil. As leaves were falling from trees in a great wind, Ornil compared the changing of the seasons to the Fall of Nargothrond, causing Túrin's pace to hasten.[1] Nothing else is known about him.
Etymology
The name Ornil is in Sindarin. While its meaning is not entirely clear, according to Eldamo it might contain the element orn ("tree").[2]
