Pearl is an edition by E.V. Gordon of the Middle English manuscript Pearl. The volume includes the section "Form and Purpose" (pp. xi-xix) by J.R.R. Tolkien, which forms part of the introduction (pp. [ix]-lii).[1]

"Form and Purpose" was reprinted as part III of the Introduction to Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl and Sir Orfeo (pp. 18-23).
