Physical Description

Peleg was the son of Indor and the father of Tuor, according to the early version of the legendarium in The Book of Lost Tales. Therefore, like Tuor, he probably belonged to the House of the Swan.[1]

Etymology

The name Peleg is in Gnomish, meaning "axe",[2] and its Qenya cognate is Pelek.[3]

In The Lay of the Fall of Gondolin, from c. 1920, his name was changed to Fengel, a name that was later used for the fifteen King of Rohan.[4]
