Philippa Boyens co-wrote the screenplay for The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. Her son Calum Gittins played Haleth, son of Háma in The Two Towers and her daughter Phoebe played a Hobbit.
