Pilinehtar is the Elvish name of a plant.[1][note 1]

Etymology

It has been suggested that pilinehtar consists of Quenya pilin "arrow" + ehtar "spearman", features that describe "the shape of [the plant's] stems".[2]

Notes

  1. The name only appears on a drawing of the plant; Christopher Tolkien describes the physical appearance of the plant as a "slender rushlike or grasslike [plant]".
