Poems Early Abandoned is the second chapter of The Lays of Beleriand. During his time on the University of Leeds (1920-1925), Tolkien embarked on five distinct poetical works concerned with the matter of his mythology, but only the Lay of Leithian and the Lay of the Children of Húrin were further than the openings.[1] This chapter treats in turn those abandoned poems.
