T.H. White

Terence Hanbury White (29 May 1906 – 17 January 1964) was an English author best known for his sequence of Arthurian novels, The Once and Future King.
J.R.R. Tolkien wrote that he had read White's novel The Sword in the Stone (published in 1938).[note 1][1][2]
Richard C. West has published an article, "Contemporary Medieval Authors" (Orcrist 3/Tolkien Journal whole no. 11; January 1970), in which Tolkien, White and C.S. Lewis are compared. Tom Shippey mentions White, Tolkien, Golding, Orwell, and others, in a "discussion of postwar English writers", in J.R.R. Tolkien: Author of the Century.[2]
