:::::I guess I'm not entirely sure of what you're asking me for "finishing" this page. If you want me to allude to the battle in other pages, I can do that. If you want me to create a category specifically for it - Battles in adaptations, it would be called, I'm guessing - I can do that as well, though, since it would likely be the category's only entry, I somewhat question the point of doing so. If you're looking for a bona fide online print source for the name of the battle, all I can continue to do is refer you to the DOS Appendices videos (which I assure you I *have* watched more than once) where they talk about it and those who have uploaded videos of the battle with that title because, frankly, I'm not sure what else it could be called -- and I still feel it's too significant of an event in these films to not warrant its own page. --[[User:BalrogTrainer|BalrogTrainer]] 15:27, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Name?[edit source]

I don't think this qualifies as a battle. Where does the name come from? --Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 12:59, 13 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That's what it's always been referred to by the filmmakers. Frankly, if the Battle of the Second Hall is considered a battle, I don't know why this couldn't be as well. I wasn't sure what attachments to add at the bottom since it's the only non-canon conflict of which I'm aware. --BalrogTrainer 14:06, 14 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think that page is leftover from Dwarf Lord's early cruft. Honestly, I have no problem getting rid of it or merging it into Balin's Colony. --Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 15:46, 14 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Is there a reference for the name? Does it need an article? --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 08:22, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Bump, or I'll delete. It doesn't even have a category. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 09:01, 17 June 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It doesn't seem to be genuinely elaborated on at length anywhere outside of the DOS Appendices (though its name is retained for many online videos showcasing the scene). Considering this is the only non-canon battle of which I'm aware, I'm not sure how to categorize it unless one makes a new category -- which might be pointless considering it would be the only entry. Does everything on this site *absolutely* need to be categorized in some way? I personally still think it's noteworthy of inclusion if we want to include absolutely everything Tolkien-related on this site. --BalrogTrainer 14:48, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This article contains useful information about this sequence in the Jackson film and contrasts it with the book. I see the value this information adds to the encyclopedia, and I see little benefit in deleting it. Protospace 02:09, 19 June 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes everything needs to be categorised. Is there a reference for the name? Why can this not be included within articles on Smaug, Thorin and Company, Lonely Mountain and the like as part of their Portrayal in adaptations sections? --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 11:48, 24 June 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I guess I'm not entirely sure of what you're asking me for "finishing" this page. --BalrogTrainer 15:27, 25 June 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
